Treatment That Goes Beyond Addiction
Treatment That Goes Beyond Addiction
Lasting recovery means treating more than addiction alone. Many people also struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, or other mental health conditions, which is why our dual diagnosis approach addresses both at the same time. From detox and therapy to relapse prevention and aftercare planning, every step of treatment is designed to help you build a healthier, more sustainable recovery.
When Is It Time to Seek Treatment?
When Is It Time to Seek Treatment?
If drugs or alcohol are affecting your health, relationships, work, or daily life—or you’ve tried to stop but keep relapsing—it may be time to seek professional help. Early treatment can reduce the risk of overdose, long-term health complications, and worsening mental health symptoms.
Choosing the Right Level of Care
The most effective treatment isn’t always the most intensive—it’s the one that matches your clinical needs.
- Medical Detox is recommended for people who may experience withdrawal symptoms or require 24/7 medical monitoring.
- Residential Treatment provides a structured, supportive environment for individuals who need time away from daily triggers to focus on recovery.
- Outpatient Programs (PHP & IOP) offer intensive therapy while allowing patients to maintain work, school, or family responsibilities.
During your confidential assessment, our clinical team will recommend the level of care that’s most appropriate for your situation.
Why Medical Detox Matters
Why Medical Detox Matters
While some substances produce mild withdrawal symptoms, others can lead to severe complications without medical care. A professionally supervised detox not only helps manage symptoms more safely but also prepares you to begin therapy and long-term treatment with a clear mind and a stable foundation. The most common medications used during medical detox are:
- Suboxone® (buprenorphine/naloxone): Commonly used to help manage opioid withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings during opioid detox.
- Methadone: A long-established medication used in certain cases of opioid use disorder to stabilize withdrawal and support recovery under medical supervision.
- Naltrexone (Vivitrol®): A non-opioid medication that helps block the effects of opioids and can also reduce alcohol cravings after detox has been completed.
Outpatient Addiction Treatment in Boston
Not everyone requires inpatient treatment to begin recovery. For individuals who have completed detox or residential care—or whose clinical needs can be safely managed while living at home—our outpatient programs provide structured, evidence-based treatment with greater flexibility.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers the highest level of outpatient care. Patients receive intensive therapy and clinical support during the day while returning home or to approved sober housing in the evenings. PHP is often recommended for individuals who need more structure than traditional outpatient treatment but do not require 24-hour residential care.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a flexible schedule for individuals who are medically stable but still benefit from consistent therapy and accountability. IOP combines individual counseling, group sessions, relapse prevention, and ongoing clinical support while allowing many patients to continue working, attending school, or caring for their families.
Flexible Programs That Fit Your Life
Recovery looks different for everyone. Our outpatient programs are designed to provide meaningful clinical support while allowing many patients to continue working, attending school, or meeting important family responsibilities. Depending on your treatment plan, our admissions team will help you find a schedule that balances recovery with the demands of everyday life.
Individual Therapy & Group Support
Recovery is often most effective when it combines one-on-one counseling with the support of others who understand what you’re going through. Patients participate in individual therapy sessions to address personal challenges while also joining professionally led group sessions that focus on relapse prevention, healthy coping skills, communication, and emotional wellness.

The facility is mostly well maintained; however, bathroom vents are very dusty & parking lot lights are not all in working condition. Additionally, there are a couple of parking lot light covers hanging off of their fittings which can cause a hazard if they were to fall onto a vehicle or person navigating through the parking lot. Flat sheets are not being placed on the beds before the comforters are placed & wet floor signs are also not being put in place before mopping begins.
Food is good & a salad and fresh fruit are offered at each meal. Plenty of drink & snacks varieties are well stocked & available.
A few weekly AA & NA mtgs are held each week. Extra small luxuries such as massage therapy, reike, chiropractic therapy, barber/haircuts, yoga, meditation & facials are also available to clients if desired.
Overall a wonderful place to get the recovery process started for those who want to get sober. And, additional resources are available explored with each client for continued support after successful completion of the program, ie PHP, IOP, sober living, etc...
Update folks; 06.11.26:
I was not able to create a new review, so I am editing this one to do some well deserved shout outs to the following ALL STARS at Shorepoint!
First and foremost, focused BHT Crew--- Olaf, Robbie, Sam, Jimmy and Randy are the best of the best between the day & night crews. If there is a way to make any client feel safe, supported, cared for, listened to (not heard)...its these guys! These dudes run, jump & hurdle through the most difficult tasks.... It is not easy to have the responsibility of 20-30 ppl at a time in your hands, while also fetching anything the client needs, doing laundry, maintaining cleanliness, serving meals, keeping stock of snacks, drinks, cutlery, etc..., transporting clients safely & so much more! The most inspiring part of all this is that these guys do it all with humility, sincere kindness, a unique gentleness & a loving heart. Thank you guys! Although, the entire team works tirelessly, this handful of gentlemen are absolutely set above the rest!
Rebecca (Head of Therapy) is a phenomenal & humble leader; always present for her staff and the clients. She offers her hand to all, and has a WIDE open door policy. Every client knows her!
Tommy is an energetic, charismatic, caring & over all brilliant therapist who truly cares for the clients he oversees, & more importantly also present for all. He brings a fun while also fostering a trusting environment, encouraging us to dig deeper ! So BRILLIANT! You are the best, T!
Becca aka Rebecca is a very knowledgeable, supportive, caring and easy to work with case manager. I never had to worry about insurance, FMLA, short term disability concerns, etc... She had everything organized & figured out before I even stepped through those doors for the first time. She is open to listen to clients concerns, & helps to alleviate any financial stress while we focused on our treatment! Complete ROCKSTAR right here!
My nursing crew....Liz and Lexi, gosh I can't say enough. Do you know how hard it is to stand in that window & go through medication management for each individual...its not an easy task especially in a setting like this. These two beautiful & phenomenal nurses are set above the rest, ALWAYS smiling & positive, even when I have witnessed them take a hit during some challenging situations. The entire nursing team is wonderful!
As a people & organizational leader, I felt it important to ensure that the best of the best were mentioned! Thanks to the entire Shorepoint team!

The facility itself was clean, calm, and well-organized, which made a huge difference during detox. The medical team was professional and responsive, and I felt supported both physically and emotionally throughout my stay.
If you or a loved one are looking for a detox center where people actually care and treat you like a human being—not just a patient—I would absolutely recommend ShorePoint Detox.

The therapy staff is incredible. Each therapist has their own unique perspective to care and recovery. Regardless of who you are assigned they genuinely want to see you succeed. Tommy is full of laughs and wisdom. He has taken the time to get to know me and my story and taken accountability when I did not feel heard at times.
The nursing staff on the whole very caring. However, they could benefit from more communication and organization internally. Sonia the Nurse Practitioner is very nice and took the time to ensure I was educated on medications before taking them. Angel, Gabe, Derrick, Jimmy, and Delaney are exceptional.
The resident Psychiatrist is extremely intelligent and straightforward. I think the Shore Point staff could benefit from a doctor who can be here more presently from day to day.
Gail and Becca from case work go above and beyond and are always finding ways to ease clients minds about their plans. They make the patients here feel supported in their financial concerns and as well as in their recovery. They make an incredible team.
The groups offered here are very diverse. The topics allowed me to explore recovery from an educational, practical, and spiritual perspective. They have been by far the best part of the experience for me. Even when I don’t identify with some of the sentiments shared by the group facilitators it has challenged and affirmed my own belief systems.
The Behavior Health Techs are incredibly hard workers. For the most part, they are focused solely on their duties. Similar to the nursing staff, they could benefit from a little more organization and maintaining a standard practice. I would like to shout out Shantelle, Keandra, Jenna, Laurie, Joe, Shaun, and Micheal.
As for the amenities, the facility is very nice overall. It is a soft place to land when seeking help and treatment. On the whole, it is very clean and orderly. Food is provided 3 meals a day sometimes more. As the patient capacity gets higher the amount of food sometimes doesn’t adjust to meet the new influx of people. Laundry is done for you here which is very nice. It does vary based on the BHT doing it. This could benefit from a standard of practice as well. Commitments are offered nightly. They are not associated with the organization directly and come voluntarily. You also have the choice to involve yourself in these commitments as well. I also spent my time here over the Holidays. The staff went above and beyond to make these days feel special and celebratory. Other amenities offered include yoga, facials, massages, reiki, and hair cuts. Yoga has especially had a profound impact on my recovery and mental health.
Shore Point has been open for less than a year. Many of the concerns I voiced are most likely a product of the time it’s been open. I see this facility being very successful in helping patients find recovery in the future.
